An Ethical Design Collective

Fall/Spring 2014-2015

A design collective with fellow design student, Sarah Parks, for our senior thesis. Elme is an ethically-minded accessory company focusing on natural processes incorporating the local community in Raleigh, NC. This year-long process focused on the process of beginning, branding and creating products for an accessory company utilizing hand-based techniques such as loom weaving, hand stitched leather work and natural dying with local ingredients.

Some of the materials used in this collection include: donated burlap bags from Cafe de los Muertos, Natural dying supplies from select local restaurants and foraging (onion skins, walnut, turmeric, blackberries), Bee's wax from N.C. State's Entomology Department and 100% cotton canvas and thread for weaving
